Overdose preventing Strategies:
- Never use alone
- Potency check
- Change access routes
- Reduce intake of additional substances
- Always carry Narcan
- Utilize fentanyl test strips
Safer Smoking tips
- Use a mouthpiece on glass and metal pipes to reduce burns on lips
- Use Chapstick
- Wipe mouth pieces with alcohol before using
- Use a pipe screen
- Copper wire screens work best
- Clean pipe regularly
- Discard ashes after use and regularly change screens
- Allow pipe to cool between uses to avoid burns
Safer Sniffing Tips
- Crush powder as fine as possible
- Avoid using keys or money bills for sniffing
- Use sticky notes or paper straws (not plastic)
- Do no share sniffing tools
- Wash hands before sniffing/bumping
- Sniff on clean surfaces
- Avoid sniffing off of other peoples bodies
Safer Injection Techniques
- Clean injection site
- Use a tourniquet
- Rotate injection sites (don’t use same location in one sitting)
- Use sterile water when cooking
- Replace/ clean used needles
